The following information relates to the electricity company Sevillana. This is only one of a number of companies you could use, the reason we have only added information for this company in the page, is because they are the only ones with an office in town.
There are two main reasons to contact the electricity company:
If you need to change the name that appears on the bill, you will need to fill in a form with the details of the property, the details of the previous and new owners and also a meter reading. This form has to be signed by you and the previous owner. You can get a copy of the form either our office or Sevillana's or downloaded from here. You also need a photocopy of your passport/N.I.E. and your Spanish bank account details.
It will take 5 days from the time the paperwork is done for the changes to take effect. In that time a Sevillana employee would have read the electricity meter.
First, you need to get a certificate of first occupancy from the town hall and in order to do this, you need to present to the town hall:
Secondly you need to have an industry qualified electrician fill in another form (available form the actual electrician) to certify that the electricity installation is up to standards; if you are buying a new property the builder should deal with this, however, if you are building the property yourself, then it is up to you to get this done, please contact us for a list of industry qualified electricians.
Thirdly, you need to go to Sevillana's office to do the contract, taking with you a copy of both documents mentioned above together with a copy of your passport/N.I.E. and details of the Spanish bank account you want the bills to be paid from (direct debit).
You can also contact them to update your contract details, increase/decrease the contracted electricity power, let them know the meter reading, take out a direct debit, ask for information and to make complains.
