The Health Centre deals with a long list of different issues and for some of them you will be required to make a previous appointment with your doctor. If you do not have a permanent doctor assigned, you will have to take a copy of your E111. In this way you will be given a different doctor every time you need one, but if you would prefer to have one assigned to you permanently, you will need to fill in a form (a copy of which can be obtained from the Health Centre or from our office) and hand it in together with a copy of your E111 and a copy of your passport to the Health Centre. If required we would be able to help.

An appointment is required for:

  • General medicine consultation
  • Paediatric consultation
  • Nurse consultation
    • Attention to chronic problems.
    • Home visits.
    • Support to carers.
  • Physiotherapy.
  • Pregnancy control and monitoring.
    • After birth control.
    • Breast feeding support.
    • Etc.
  • Children's health monitoring.
  • Dentist .
  • X rays.
  • Family planning. You should ask for an appointment through your doctor. They deal with any problems of sexual nature, birth control or any sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Spirometry. Evaluation of the pulmonary capacity.

To get an appointment you can either go personally to the health centre between 08:30 to 15:00, or phone 958 036 812/3 between 08:30 and 15:00. For non-Spanish speakers we will be happy to do this for you.

E111 information

The EHIC has replaced the old E111. From 1 January 2006, E111s are no longer valid. The quickest and easiest way to get an EHIC is to apply online.

Applying for a European Health Insurance Card

A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while you're in a European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland.

As a UK national, you can receive free or reduced cost emergency healthcare in any European country that is signed up to be part of the European Economic Area (EEA), as long as you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This replaces the old E111 form from September 2005 and is available from post offices, online, or by phoning 0845 606 2030 (0845 numbers not available from Spain). Each member of your family must have a separate EHIC.

You are eligible for an EHIC if:

  • you are a UK national,
  • you are a national of any European Union country that is part of the European Economic Area,
  • you are a stateless person or a refugee,
  • you are a widow receiving a UK state pension or Widow's benefit, whose late husband was a national of a European Union country and living in the UK at the time of his death, or you are a widow or widower receiving a UK state bereavement benefit, whose late spouse was a national of a European Union country and living in the UK at the time of his or her death.

There are some countries outside the EEA (such as Australia and New Zealand) that have reciprocal agreements with the UK. This means that UK residents can receive free or reduced cost emergency medical treatment while travelling in these countries. You will need to provide proof, such as a British passport or photo card driving licence, that you are a UK resident in order to receive treatment.

If you are travelling in a country that does not have healthcare agreements with the UK, you will need to take out medical insurance to guarantee that you will receive treatment if you become ill. Your travel agent can advise you of the type and level of cover you need for your journey.

You can find more information about the new EHIC here.
